About the launch
Bushfires, floods and heatwaves are becoming more frequent and more severe. Communities are paying the price through rising insurance premiums, damaged infrastructure, and stretched local council budgets — while coal and gas corporations continue to make record profits and avoid responsibility for the harm they cause.
This online launch marks the start of a new, community-driven campaign to make big polluters pay for climate damage and to build lasting community power in a climate-impacted world.
Date: Wednesday 11 March 2026
Time: 6:30–7:45pm AEDT, 6:00-7:15pm ACDT, 5:30-6:45pm AEST, 5:00-6:15pm ACST, 3:30-4:45pm AWST
Location: Zoom (online) – RSVP to receive the link
What we’ll cover
At the launch, you’ll hear:
-
Why a polluters pay approach can shift power and create political space for real climate action
-
How local councils — already on the frontline of climate impacts — can be a powerful organising focus
-
How community-led council motions can build momentum from the ground up
-
How we can build power and momentum for a phase out of coal and gas and deliver for our communities
-
How you can get involved in your local area, whether you want to lead or support a campaign
You’ll also have the chance to connect with others from your region and take the first steps towards collective action in your community.
This is an invitation to try something bold, practical and hopeful — building power together and holding polluters accountable.
